American-Palestinian Youth Liberated After 270 Days in Israeli Imprisonment

A Palestinian-American adolescent having endured nine months in Israeli detention without charge gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 when he was arrested in February within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department applauded the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.

They said he is pale, underweight, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, Mohammed's uncle conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Right now, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives prompt healthcare he needs following exposure to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances for months."

US officials announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.

{"American leadership has no higher priority to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," it added.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to US authorities and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, parent of four children managing a frozen treats business in Florida, had earlier stated his son only confessed about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.

There were no visits or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, learning information solely regarding the treatment through judicial records.

The teenager remained absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary on the West Bank.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations and homicide.

Approximately several hundred young Palestinian detainees being held in Israeli jails, per correctional service statistics.

Many have never been charged along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated relatives would persist in advocating demanding accountability for their family member Sayfollah Musallet.

The dual national youth who the Palestinian health ministry said was beaten to death by Israeli settlers during a confrontation in July.

Initially, military authorities reported officials were investigating reports a Palestinian civilian was deceased.

Both young men were employed together within the family's frozen treats establishment based in Florida.

No one has been charged with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand the American government to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
