Cowboys Player Marshawn Kneeland Dies at 24 Years Old
Marshawn Kneeland was the 56th overall pick in the 2024 draft
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and appeared in 18 games for the team, including four starts.
He recorded his initial touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after playing college football for Western Michigan University.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the passing of a player who "poured his heart" into every moment.
"I saw him strive his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.
The NFL stated it is "profoundly grieved" by the tragic event.
