Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, adding that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the files to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the deaths, public personalities offered divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive statements that were broadly criticized by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the detractors recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan described the comments as "disturbing" and suggested they revealed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an associate should have intervened when the impulse to comment on the tragedy was made.
