Miami scored eighty-six first-half points versus the Memphis Grizzlies

Miami Heat claimed a crushing 146 to 114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their initial NBA match since guard Terry Rozier was detained for suspected unlawful gambling.

Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was additionally detained in connection with a sweeping FBI investigation into illegal gambling. Both men contest the allegations.

But, the Heat were focused as they recorded 86 first-half scores to lead the Grizzlies by 39 at halftime, the biggest half-time advantage in the team's 37 year existence.

Bam Adebayo led the way with twenty-four points and afterwards said Rozier had the team's full backing.

"We support him. Complete backing," Bam said. "You support him through and through. He's like family at the end of the day."

Heat coach Spoelstra added: "Rozier is somebody who is important to everyone. He's had a beneficial influence on our team.

"We send our thoughts and our care for him as he goes through the situation."

Portland also won their initial match since the arrests, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter taking over as temporary head coach in Chauncey's non-attendance and leading the squad to a convincing 139-119 victory over the Warriors.

"We all had positive times with Billups and his coaching style," Tiago remarked. "We're thinking of him and his family but our focus is on the game."

NBA Commissioner Silver 'Upset' by Arrests

Speaking about the detentions for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated he was "very upset" by the incidents of the past few days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and its fans than the fairness of the game," he told Amazon Prime. "And so I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

The commissioner also mentioned an NBA investigation into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he played for the Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"We were informed by the regulators and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We then looked into that situation and were open about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can take various actions that the league office is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating since then. And, of course, what they revealed recently was an indictment.

"And two and a half years later, he has not been found guilty of any offense, in justice to Terry.

"Clearly, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise here between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."

Following racking up 43 points in a first loss to the Warriors, the European star achieved forty-nine scores - along with eleven boards and eight passes - as the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 128 to 110.

Greek player Antetokounmpo additionally had a big night with 31 scores, twenty boards and 7 passes in the Milwaukee Bucks' 122 to 116 victory at the Toronto Raptors.

Houston Rockets were beaten 115-111 by the Detroit Pistons even with 37 scores from Kevin Durant, while Wembanyama had 29 points, eleven boards and nine blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' overtime win over the New Orleans.
