Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he explained to the podcast host: “I declared I will never coach any other side on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, which suggests the choice could be mine down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about which situations would have to unfold to tempt his return to the touchline, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours through long matches; I don’t miss going to media briefings multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats each week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood in the building. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that won the league last campaign. Liverpool have lost a string of losses across various tournaments following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the idea it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, incredible player. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Diogo Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the team environment without him in it. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A profound tragedy for all the boys as well. Not a single person would cite it to justify results yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Impossible.”
