Preview the Revamped Classic Adventure: This Free Demo for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Shortly.
Players anticipating the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait too much longer. An exciting trial experience will become available on the seventh of January, granting a substantial glimpse into the game's initial chapters. Importantly, all save data achieved within this demo is eligible to be carried over directly into the complete game upon its eventual release.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Re-release: A Thorough Reimagining
This project represents a ground-up re-envisioning of the landmark 2000 JRPG, originally known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a distinct step away from other series remakes, like the recently launched HD-2D versions, this remake utilizes a striking 3D aesthetic. Environments are designed to look like intricate dioramas, with characters featuring a delightful stylized look.
"Taking into account the 3DS version, the main quest was remained notoriously extended. So we reached a conclusion that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] make this experience for modern players."
Significant Mechanical Improvements & Updates
Square Enix have introduced numerous modernizations to refresh the classic experience. Among these are:
- Streamlined Field Encounters: Inspired by contemporary role-playing games, weaker foes can now be defeated instantly on the overworld map eliminating the need for initiating a full turn-based battle screen.
- Variable Combat Pace: Players have the option to accelerate battle sequences to quickly get past simpler encounters.
- Expanded Job Mechanics: One completely new vocation was created for this reimagining. Furthermore, characters now have the ability to take on a secondary job, significantly expanding customization possibilities.
These changes are designed to mitigate one of the 2000 title's most noted points of feedback: its daunting scope. The initial main quest was known to take more than 100 hours to finish. The new edition has been expressly designed to refine progression and reduce any repetition.
