Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive season.
The twenty-seven-year-old captured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of High Performance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a higher level".
