The Co-Creator of Call of Duty, Has Died in an LA Car Crash

Vince Zampella, the mind behind the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in Los Angeles, California aged 55.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The renowned industry figure passed away following his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This represents a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and the countless individuals inspired by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts said.
