The Red Devils Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Signing for United
The forward, with six months remaining on her deal, has been a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing is viewed as a major coup for the Women’s Super League team.
Her exit from Munich has been anticipated after she was seen holding back emotions while applauding the German club’s fans following a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its leading strikers. According to reports, all the paperwork for the transfer are now finalised.
Consistent Goalscoring to Boost United's Forward Line
The 28-year-old’s signing should represent a major uplift to the team's attacking options. Schüller has been remarkably reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- For seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when United seem to be gathering positive momentum.

- The signing of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s new deal, a senior figure commented: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the American league, added: “You can sense how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
