Following high-level talks, Ukraine's leader Zelenskyy has disclosed that Washington has presented a outlined settlement that includes defense assurances for his nation spanning a period of fifteen years.

Details of the Proposal

The Ukrainian leader stated that in the course of critical discussions with US President President Trump, he had requested long-term defense assurances for a duration of five decades. Yet, the outlined plan envisions a reduced guarantee of 15 years from the United States.

The specifics remain undefined what these guarantees would assume, but the Ukrainian leader has been pushing for "collective security assurances, referring to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's founding principle that an attack on one member is treated as an assault against the entire alliance.

Progress on Peace Talks

According to Zelenskyy, Washington's protection assurances for his country under the modified 20-point proposal have been 100% agreed, although the American leader expressed more caution, putting the figure at more like ninety-five percent.

Both leaders stated that advancements were achieved during the Florida talks. The US President, nevertheless, warned that there were several difficult remaining points, particularly regarding territorial disputes.

The Path to a Meeting with Russia

On another front, the Ukrainian President also told the press that a talks with Russian leadership would be possible once the American and European allies endorsed a Ukraine-proposed peace plan to conclude the conflict.

The President went on to say that it will become clear in a matter of weeks whether the hostilities can cease.
